The House Energy and Commerce Committee approved an auto safety bill where 鈥渁utomakers would be required to meet new safety standards to prevent unintended acceleration in vehicles鈥 as well as 鈥渘ew rules for brake override systems and vehicle black boxes and tougher penalties for slowing down a recall. 鈥滱P(5/26, Thomas).鈥 The Washington Post (5/27, Whoriskey) reports that the bill seeks to make the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration鈥檚 oversight 鈥渕ore aggressive鈥 and would prohibit NHTSA employees from lobbying activities, on behalf of automakers, within a year of their employment. ,Oddo & Babat will continue to monitor this bill, and will provide updates on its progress.
I consulted with David the first time a couple of years ago on a serious matter that affected a very close member of my family. Not expecting a good experience from this serious situation coupled with an attorney consultation, the entire thing surprised me as it was pleasant, professional, and completely successful. We found him clear, direct, generous and extremely knowledgeable throughout the process. I give my very strongest recommendation
